When Life Pees On You

Life can pee on you and you just can’t get out of the way. That’s the way it seems sometimes. You’re doing everything right. Your job’s going well. All your relationships are just perfect. All your favorite places to eat are offering discounts and coupons. Gas is cheap. Life is a breeze but…DUCK!!! Oh, my gosh, that stinks!!! Good grief! What’s that smell!! It’s pee!!! Yeah, that’s your car completely breaking down and it’s not a cheap fix. That’s having to take your child to the ER in the middle of the night. That losing your WIC and food stamps because of a glitch “in the system.” That’s your significant other saying they’re mad and they’re…well…pissed off! The worst part is you didn’t see it coming.

 

What’re you going to do about it all? Sometimes there’s nothing you can do. So quit worrying about it. First, Jesus says don’t worry about tomorrow, today’s bad enough. Don’t let it pile up and get you down. Then he asks this simple question: “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” And, of course, the answer is no. He’s saying the worrying is not going to do you any good. And, finally, he says:

 

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14

The problems and their repercussions might not disappear, BUT…you can be at peace about dealing with them. Peace of mind and heart. In other words, you can make through. Live life again with some calmness and composure.

Will life pee on you? Oh, yeah. It happens. Can you deal with it? Oh, yeah. Jesus.
