An interesting thing has happened recently in our society. The meaning of the iconic hoodie has undergone a change. The hoodie allows the wearer to hide his identity in a bit of a shadow. It’s been associated with sinister activity. Have you entered a store with one of those posters on the door reminding you to pull your hood down before entering the store? If someone tries to rob the place, they want his face clearly on camera. But…all that’s changed with the tragic shooting of Trayvon Martin. Hoodies have suddenly become a symbol to honor Trayvon. It’s obvious by the “hoodie marches” and the important people we see in hoodies, that their meaning is changing. In our society things change…and it can happen overnight…literally.
Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1
God never changes. In fact, it’s impossible for God to change. The influences that cause change in your life have no effect on God. He will never be weaker or stronger; his knowledge and wisdom will not increase or diminish. He doesn’t have mood swings. Any guidance or help you get from him is unwavering. His words are timeless. God. Never. Changes.
Events happen quickly in this world; things change fast. Grab ahold of God and you’ll be holding onto a constant, unchanging source of strength. I have a couple of hoodies hanging in my closet. Do you?
