Don’t forget to vote today! I don’t care who you favor…just go vote.
God expects us to submit to government authorities who are not violating his will. Part of that submission in our country is voting.
Hope to see you at the polls today!!!
Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. Romans 13
Presidential election year!!! Comedy, yes! TV commercials, yes! Speeches and debates, yes! It’s an overload! Trying to decide who to vote for! None of them seems like us…us normal people. And some…well, listen to a few quotations from our candidates: “Juarez is reported to be the most dangerous city in America.” (Geography lesson needed…Juarez is in Mexico!). “Democracy in China is like Viagra; no such thing as free elections.” (What!? What’re you smokin’, man?!). Or, how about the candidate, who when speaking with some unemployed people, said, “I should tell my story. I’m also unemployed.” Sure. Right. One thing is for sure, Republican or Democrat, none of these presidential candidates appears to be anywhere near like the average American citizen (and who is more average than Mr. The Price Is Right…Drew Carey!).
So the Word became human and made his home among us. John 1
Jesus is like you. In the verse today “the Word” is Jesus. He made his home among us. He left heaven and came to earth to live with us. I like the way someone else said it: “Jesus became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.” He moved in next door to you. Right there where you live every day. If he ran for office he would be a candidate you could get on board with. When he said, “I know how you feel,” that would be the truth.
What kind of a person do you want leading you through your life? With Jesus, he’s someone who understands where you live, where you’re coming from. He gets…you.
