Don’t Stop Believin’

Do you know who Steve Perry is? No. Do you remember the group Journey? No. Well, I know you’ve heard the song “Don’t Stop Believin'”! Steve Perry was the lead singer of Journey who originally made the record “Don’t Stop Believin.'”25ca98b5ffdd451ca2479766ae40e5cf

In the 90’s Journey had a toxic break-up. Steve Perry all but disappeared from the music scene. Now at 64 years old he did a revealing interview recently. He said he may release a follow-up to his 1994 solo album. He has over 50 original compositions. His problem, though, is perfectionism on the inside and lofty expectations on the outside. “I just don’t want to have any pressure,” he said. It seems no matter how good people say he sounds, he always feels he needs to make it better. To make it perfect.

People do that with God. They think, since he is perfect, they have to be perfect to join him. Not true. God is perfect, but he doesn’t expect you to be perfect. Quite the opposite. He wants to help you because you’re not perfect. He wants to forgive your flaws and help you to do better. But, he knows you’ll never reach perfection while on this earth. No way, no how.

So, stop believing you have to be perfect to go on life’s journey with God. He doesn’t want that. He just wants you to rely on him, and do your best.

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life. Revelation 22

Here’s a live version of Steve Perry and Journey singing “Don’t Stop Believin.'” Enjoy!!!

Don’t Stop Believin’ in Your Journey

The pilot episode of the tv show “Glee.” Awesome! The final scene, the empty auditorium, Rachel and Finn on stage singing “Don’t Stop Believing,” Mr Schuester, watching from the doorway, tears in his eyes. (I knew I was gonna watch that show!) That was the perfect song. You see, no one believed in the show choir, but those kids did…and finally, so did Shue. You can get to feeling that way, that no one believes in you, your life is going nowhere. I read that Taylor Swift said: “People haven’t always been there for me but music always has.” Sounds like Taylor knows how that feels.

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. John 14

God believes in you. God is your own personal cheerleader, he’s not just on the sidelines, either, he’s right there beside you. Life can be dark at times, it can happen slowly or it can happen suddenly. No one around. God can provide the light for you. He sees potential in you, and he doesn’t just want you to survive, he wants you to thrive. Doesn’t matter what the circumstances are.

The weatherman may be forecasting sunny skies; yet, today, your world may be clouds and gloom. Take a look up. Look closely. Take a hold. And, suddenly your weather will be severe clear!
