Brain Fart
On the way to work today I heard a song. Here’s what my brain was saying: “I LOVE THIS SONG! Let’s see it’s by uh, uh,uh. Crap! Who is it?!! Wait till the chorus comes around again…. There, it’s…her name starts with a C, yeah, no, maybe it was a B. Wait. I’ll go through the entire alphabet. A, no, B, no, C, no,…………….Z!” And then, at the end of the song, the friendly guy on the radio becomes my biggest enemy when he doesn’t tell me who sings it!!! That condition is called a brain fog (in our family we call it a brain fart). Poor short term memory? I don’t know, but you go around all day humming that song and asking everybody you know who sings it.
So think clearly and exercise self-control. 1 Peter 13
I’m not sure the Bible could help you with that problem. Well, I guess you could pray that God would just put that answer in your head! But one thing’s for sure, the Bible is all about clear thinking. Thinking clearly requires you to be calm and relaxed. People think clearly when they meditate, letting all else go and concentrating on one thing. Isn’t that praying? God promises throughout the Bible to help you in times of trouble when you can’t think clearly.
Panic can set in pretty quickly when anxiety and concern raise their cobra-like heads. That’s when you need to think clearly. God is close by, call out.
Here’s a song for you listen to…I’m always forgetting this singer’s name. Good luck remembering it the next time you hear this catchy tune.
